I know there is what appears to be an insurmountable gulf between geekdom and the worlds of faith – and that’s just absurd.
I’ve also been messing around with the possibility of writing in some longer forms, perhaps some fiction. I’ve often heard complaining and debating about the dearth of authentically Catholic fiction, or what that even means.
In poking around I ran into this thoughtful post from Mark Shea … from there a post on a rather eclectic blog called Sci Fi Catholic by a D. G. D. Davidson. Sort of a triple bonus – not just fiction, but Catholic and science fiction, and even Catholic and fantasy … encouraging indeed.
SF Catholic is an addicting read … and well, in just a few days this tipped me over the edge. Starting soon, ok maybe starting now I’m going to start posting some more geeky stuff in this blog – from the serious to the silly.
Silly is a good a place as any to start, so we’ll just start with the dumb-funny: a cyborg name generator. (thanks D. G. D.) Tried my hand and it was almost sublime: rad-old school retro-50s sf takes a hack at summarizing sanctification & living in the world.
This is going to be fun.
